After a few years away from competition, Jamie Vandenbalck is preparing his return to motorsport. The former GT4 driver is targeting the full 2027 Belcar Endurance Championship, including the 24 Hours of Zolder, in a BMW M6 GT3 run by Koopman Racing. Three suitable team-mates are being sought for this ambitious programme.

BMW as a common thread

Vandenbalck started his racing career in 2015 in a BMW M235i Racing with JJ Motorsport. Four seasons of international GT4 racing followed, including the Reiter Engineering KTM X-Bow GT4, the 3Y Technology BMW M4 GT4 and the Street-Art Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4.

In 2019 he won his class at the 24 Hours of Zolder with Xwift Racing Events and was selected for the Aston Martin Racing Driver Academy. In 2021 he was the winner on track of the VRM BMW M2 Cup championship.

Choosing BMW is therefore no coincidence. Alongside his earlier race programmes with the brand, Vandenbalck has already gained experience in the BMW M6 GT3 during several tests.

For his comeback, Vandenbalck has chosen the Dutch team Koopman Racing, which has extensive experience with the BMW M6 GT3 and with providing technical support for GT3 programmes.

A deliberate return

Today, 30-year-old Vandenbalck is an entrepreneur and, together with his wife Kaat, the proud father of two daughters. His family and business play an important part in his life, but the ambition to race again has remained.

“I am very proud of what I have built outside motorsport. I have a wonderful wife, two fantastic daughters and my own business. But the passion for racing never went away. If I return, I want to do it professionally, with a competitive car, a strong team and team-mates who share the same ambition.”

In September 2026 Vandenbalck tested the BMW M6 GT3 at Circuit Zolder. After a few years away, he was straight back on the pace, the green light to take the project further.

“After the test at Zolder there was no doubt left. Racing is my passion, and I’m not coming back to make up the numbers — I’m coming back to win.”

The ambition to fight at the front

The planned programme covers the full 2027 Belcar season, with the 24 Hours of Zolder as one of its highlights.

The aim is to put together a competitive line-up of four drivers, built on speed, experience, team spirit and a shared sporting ambition.
